Call me old fashioned:
but when I visit a website I want to know who I am doing business with.
Five minutes ago I had never heard of them.
Now they want me to hand over some of my hard earned cash!
That’s like proposing on a first date…….Taxi
And it gets worse:
Not a single picture of a human being on their website.
Don’t forget your website should be about:
Getting KNOWN, LIKED AND TRUSTED.
So making it clear exactly who you are, as quickly as possible, is a probably a good idea, right.
So from the very first moment that a visitor lands on your site you should be focused on building trust whilst being aware that you have to do this for two different audiences.
Many companies think their websites can achieve this by displaying a “money back guarantee” and some highly dubious testimonials. WRONG!!!
Here’s is an image of a money back guarantee – How is that binding? – It’s just an image. An image that anyone can upload to their site. Not worth the paper it is written on!”
Due to the nature of this business, refunds have never been an issue.
However making it clear what payment system you use can be re-assuring for visitors – if they are known to help settle these types of issues.
Spotting fake testimonials is easy – as referrers that continually repeat the company’s name are a dead give away because people don’t talk like that.
Want to know the best part?
Building trust is incredible easy and is great for business.
In a nutshell you have to increase your PERSONAL BRANDING and display a body of work that proves that
YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.
That’s not going to be a problem is it?
Firstly here is my quick guide to building trust. Followed by additional information about Personal Branding. Later on we will talk about Search Engines and trust.
Builds trust, breaks down barriers, connects with visitors, provides a source of content and relaxes visitors.
Fancy some of that?
Personal branding is not an ego trip, it can really help your business and removes that giant leap of faith that might be required by visitors when making that all important initial purchase.
I highly recommend that any business with a website takes a serious look at personal branding.
You may not be the next Richard Branson but if you were, like Richard, you would be paying close attention to your personal brand.
